Lost Lake with Mt Hood in the distance.Nearly 2.5 million visitors come to Mt. Hood National Forest each year just for the chance to see forest wildlife and enjoy forested landscapes. A short drive across the forest reveals several different life zones including temperate Douglas-fir rainforests on the west-side of Mt. Hood, arctic-alpine near timberline, and semi-arid ponderosa pine forests on the east-side.
