Prescribed Burn Alert for the Conecuh National Forest

(Andalusia, AL) April 18, 2024---- USDA Forest Service federal fire management specialists are planning to conduct a prescribed burn (controlled burn) on 451 acres today. The burn is 1 mile west of the Bradley Community. 

Prescribed burns are low-intensity fires ignited by trained personnel to remove excess fuels, such as vegetation and dead wood, that would enable wildfires to burn hotter and longer.

During today’s prescribed burn the public may notice Forest Service fire crews and equipment.  Smoke may also be visible from Hwy 4.   The wind is expected to be out of the South and carry smoke to the north.
