  • Forest Service Enforces No Alcohol Use at Two Lakes in Talladega National Forest

    (Sylacauga, AL)  November 17, 2011---- The Talladega National Forest, Talladega Ranger District is announcing a public restriction at two lakes east of Sylacauga.  Visitors are prohibited to use alcohol at Lake Virginia and Little Will’s Lake located in the Talladega National Forest.  The recent closure was enforced on October 30.   “We are implementing this change based on public comments,” said Gloria Nielsen, Talladega District Ranger.   Use of the national forest is encouraged by everyone, especially youth who seek healthy outdoor activities.  “We want each visitor to feel welcomed to embrace and care for public lands and to make national forest visits safe and enjoyable,” said Nielsen.  The Forest Service appreciates the public’s cooperation to implement this change.  Please contact the Talladega Ranger District at 256-362-2909 for more information.
