PR 191 at Km 11.8 (Palo Colorado Area) is officially closed to the general public due to the expansion of a landslide undercutting the road. The area will be closed until further notice as road repairs continue.
All the recreation facilities located before reaching Palo Colorado Recreation area will remain open during this closure. These sites include El Portal Visitor Center, La Coca Falls, Yocahu Tower, Big Tree Trail, and La Mina Trail.
Due to holiday festivities, high visitation is expected through January 10, 2016. During this time there may be traffic congestion and limited parking available. A Traffic Control Operation will be implemented as needed for visitor safety, to help reduce traffic congestion and to minimize environmental impacts.
