Mastication (mechanical thinning) of brush, small understory trees and downed woody fuels happening on approximately 300 acres of National Forest System land near Washington Ridge and Cooper roads. Work will occur throughout the summer and into fall.
Work areas for this project will be signed. The public is urged to exercise caution in the area, as contractors will be operating equipment, including masticating/chipping machinery that can throw debris up to 300 feet.
There may be temporary detours of some trails, which will be clearly signed.
