Black bear activity is on the rise - especially in those areas where visitors and campers are not vigilant about storing their food and keeping a clean campsite. If your camping plans include a visit to Hancock Campground, a first-come, first-served campground, please be advised that a site may be signed as closed. This is an intentional closure until such time that the closure can be lifted. Do not enter the site. For further inquiry, visit the campground host.
The feeding of bears, intentional or unintentional, is prohibited on the White Mountain National Forest.Visitors who have not properly stored their food risk their own safety and receiving a citation.
