The Forest Planner enables landowners in Oregon and Washington to find, map, and design custom forest management scenarios for their properties. Users can select the property and forest stands that they want to examine, enter information about the tree species and forest types represented, and select from a variety of management scenarios.

The Forest Planner enables landowners to visualize alternative forest management scenarios for their properties and their effect on variables including timber stocking and yields, carbon storage, and fire and pest hazard ratings.

CUFR Tree Carbon Calculator (CTCC)

Overview & Applicability

The CUFR Tree Carbon Calculator (CTCC) provides quantitative data on carbon dioxide sequestration and building heating/cooling energy effects provided by individual trees. CTCC outputs can be used to estimate GHG (greenhouse gas) benefits for existing trees or to forecast future benefits. The CTCC is programmed in an Excel spreadsheet and provides carbon-related information for trees located in one of sixteen United States climate zones.

NASA - CASA Global CQUEST - Carbon Query and Evaluation Support Tools

This application from NASA provides datasets and a viewer for geographic data that support large-scale carbon inventory. The datasets combine NASA remote sensing technology, ecosystem process modeling, and field-based measurements to characterize impacts on the carbon cycle.

The CASA Global CQUEST application provides datasets and a geographical data viewer that support large-scale carbon inventory. Users can display global data on net primary productivity, net ecosystem productivity, and other variables interactively as a map and obtain data values in tabular format.

Water Supply Stress Index (WaSSI) Ecosystem Services Model

Overview & Applicability

WaSSI is an integrated, process-based model that can be used to project the effects of forest land cover change, climate change, and water withdrawals on river flows, water supply stress, and ecosystem productivity (i.e. carbon dynamics). WaSSI operates on a monthly time step at the HUC-4 (8-digit HUC) watershed scale (see more on HUCs) and across Mexico at the 0.5 degree scale.

U.S. Forest Carbon Calculation Tool (CCT)

The Carbon Calculation Tool 2007, is a computer application that generates state-level annualized estimates of carbon stocks on forest land based. It draws on the publicly available Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) data to calculate these estimates.

COLE (Carbon OnLine Estimator)

Overview & Applicability

COLE is a versatile and appropriate tool to use for a wide range of carbon estimation needs. COLE draws from Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) data to provide basic carbon inventory and growth-and-yield estimates for a particular forest, region, or state. While COLE draws from FIA plot data, the data is aggregated at the county or national forest level, so analysis can occur at this level or higher.

ecoSmart Landscapes

Overview & Applicability

This tool can help members of the public, cities and other organizations estimate the carbon and energy impacts of trees. EcoSmart Landscapes Public is intended for residential property owners, while ecoSmart Landscapes Enterprise is for planning and management of carbon offset projects by organizations such as utilities, campuses, and municipalities.
