New Time Set for Open House about Land Use Planning and Oil and Gas Leasing on National Forests in Alabama

The public is invited to meet with state and federal officials

MONTGOMERY, ALA. (April 8, 2013) – The National Forests in Alabama and the Southeastern States Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) invite the public to an open house to learn more about the development and processing of oil and gas on national forest system lands.  The event is scheduled for April 25from 5-8 p.m. at the Gateway Park Lodge, 2060 Bowman Street, Montgomery, Ala., 36105.

The planned open house will focus on various aspects of oil and gas leasing and development on the National Forests in Alabama. Discussion topics will include the history of development; regulatory and permitting drilling processes; National Environmental Policy Act requirements (NEPA); drilling methods; and post-lease monitoring. The informal format of the event will allow people to drop by at any time during the three-hour period to visit information stations and ask questions.
