Difficulty Level (Moderate): Trail maintenance assignments range from light to arduous depending on tasks assigned.  General trail maintenance requires bending, lifting, reaching, walking, carrying and repetitive motions for long hours.
Opportunity Description: The Tuskegee trail systems to be maintained include Bartram Trail, Pleasant Hill Trail, and Bold Destiny/Bedford V. Cash Memorial Horse Trail.  Volunteers with previous carpentry or knowledgeable experience using power and hand tools are highly favored.  Tasks to be performed will include cutting back encroaching vegetation, clearing fallen trees or limbs from the trail, reworking the tread, constructing water control structures, putting up trail markers, posts, and signs, locating and obliterating user defined trails, litter removal, repair and construction of boardwalks and bridges.

Difficulty Level (Light):  Volunteer should possess excellent customer service skills, communication, and basic computer skills.  Must be reliable, detail oriented, and have the ability to multitask.
Opportunity Description: This is a part time position available 2-3 days a week for 4 hours a day; however, willingness to work more or less hours will also be considered.  The job duties will involve office support services to ensure efficiency and effectiveness within the Tuskegee Forest Ranger office.  Some of the daily tasks will include greeting visitors, answering incoming calls, making copies, receiving/sending faxes, maintaining general filing system and filing correspondence accordingly.

Difficulty Level (Moderate):  Volunteers in this position will help maintain the state’s natural wildlife population for environmental and recreational purposes.  Carpentry or craftsmanship skills highly desired, but not required.  Knowledgeable of basic hand and power tools a plus.  Duties will require the ability to lift objects or materials and perform manual labor within outdoor conditions.
Opportunity Description:  Monitor and maintain blue bird boxes and wood duck boxes.  Build and install bluebird boxes, bat houses, and wood duck boxes in selected areas.

Difficulty Level (Moderate):  Ability to bend and/or squat to pick up litter. Must be willing to follow all instructed safety precautions provided.   Moderate level of walking is required.
Opportunity Description:  We are hoping groups or individuals will adopt a trail, a stretch of Forest Service road or a recreation area (Task and/or Tsinia Wildlife Viewing Area) to keep litter free.  We have 14 designated primitive camp sites where litter pick up needs to be done.

Difficulty Level (Moderate):  Seeking individuals with the ability to perform minor construction, such as lifting, nailing, measuring, cutting, and digging.
Opportunity Description:  For safe travel in the forest, signs are a must.  The Tuskegee National Forest would like to have volunteers who would like to assist putting up missing signs such as road number signs, trail route posts, culvert markers, bridge warning markers, trailhead signs, gate warning signs, and such.
