Forest Roads Status

Due to heavy rains and saturated soils the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland officials have closed an area on the Boulder and Canyon Lakes ranger districts. Travel is discouraged on the Clear Creek Ranger District  and the Pawnee National Grassland until further notice. Check our Flood 2013 page for more information.

The U.S. Forest Service closes roads seasonally for many reasons. Some roads are closed to protect wildlife at critical times of the year, others are closed because they are not passable due to snow, snow drifts and ice or to protect the road bed.

Boulder, Canyon LakesClear Creek  and Sulphur Ranger Districts and the Pawnee National Grassland have specific information for your use.

Motor Vehicle Use Maps will help you ensure that you are on a road authorized for public use while on the forest and grassland.  The map is free, district specific and available both electronically or at all of our district offices.
