Granby, Colo. – The Sulphur Ranger District of the Arapaho National Forest plans to temporarily close portions of the Point Park Picnic Area, located in the town of Grand Lake. Portions of the picnic area will be closed Monday, September 18 through Friday, September 22 for construction to complete upgrades.

According to Jon Morrissey, Sulphur District Ranger, “The importance of work to improve the Point Park Picnic Area walkways and pavilions for the town of Grand Lake and visitors has been recognized for some time. The construction allows us to complete upgrades that started last year with placement of timber liners and walkway of crushed fine rock. This year we will complete the walkway, as well as the remaining four pavilions. Funds for the project are from local donations, the US Forest Foundation and the Arapaho National Forest. We apologize in advance for any inconveniences this may cause.”

Work planned assures the area will come into compliance to be fully accessible.
