Construction is currently underway on the Baker Draw Designated Shooting Area located on the west side of the Pawnee National Grassland. When the area is open, detailed information will be available here.

The closure is located in Township 8 North, Range 63 West, Section 7. The area is closed for 1/4 mile south of Weld County Road 96 and 1/4 mile west of County Road 63.
*The area along County Road 61 is closed to recreational shooting due to the lack of safe backstops. This area was signed as "no shooting" after a near miss by State Highway 14.

Remember to follow all shooting regulations and restrictions, and use only approved targets On the ARP approved targets are: cardboard targets, paper targets, manufactured metallic targets (metal targets specifically designed for firearms), or manufactured thrown-type clay targets (clay pigeons). Please note: exploding targets are not permitted.
Tracer bullets have been identified as a cause of a fire on the Pawnee National Grassland (see news release). Tracer bullets are illegal on National Forest System lands.
Use only approved targets with a safe backstop. Remember a safe backstop is one that will stop a bullet. Do not attach your targets to trees, fences, water tanks or other improvements.

Other people recreating in the area and take extra precaution to avoid recreators when shooting
Livestock graze throughout the grassland, take extra precaution to avoid cattle when shooting.
