Holloway named as District Ranger on Alpine District Ranger on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests

Alpine, AZ—February 17, 2015; Tom Osen, acting Forest Supervisor of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests (ASNFs) is happy to announce Ed Holloway, Jr. as the Alpine District Ranger. He will fill in behind Richard Davalos, who served as the district’s ranger for many years and retired in November 2014.
Holloway says “I am privileged and honored to be a steward of the land, and am looking forward to serving this special part of the country that is the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests. I am anxious to explore the area and believe that rural communities are the backbone of the nation.”
Holloway is a native of Las Cruces, NM and comes to the ASNFs from the Coronado National Forest where he served as the Forest Range Program Manager. He studied rangeland and wildlife management at New Mexico State University and was awarded a Bachelor’s of Science degree in January, 1988.
In 1988 Ed began his federal career working for the Gila National Forest as a range technician. Other assignments have included forestry technician (firefighter), range management specialist, Interdisciplinary NEPA Team Planner and details as acting District Ranger and acting natural resource Staff Officer. He has served on four National Forests; the Gila, the Prescott, the Salmon-Challis, and most recently the Coronado National Forest.
Holloway is an avid outdoorsman, backcountry hunter and amateur photographer. Ed is married and his wife Beth is employed at FCI Safford Federal Prison.
