Denton named as acting Springerville District Ranger on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests

Springerville, AZ—May 27, 2015; Tom Osen, Forest Supervisor of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests (ASNFs) welcomes Chuck J. Denton to the Springerville Ranger District as acting district ranger. He will fill in behind Marcia Pfleiderer, who served the last four years as the district’s ranger and, who has taken a position as the Ecosystem Staff Officer for the National Forests of Florida located in Tallahassee. 

“I look forward to serving as the acting District Ranger for Springerville. It appeals to me to be able to get to a rural forested area, and to interact with the community,” Denton said. He comes to the ASNFs from the Tonto National Forest where he has served since 2009 as their Ecosystems Staff Officer located in Phoenix.

He previously worked for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) as a hydrologist and a land use planner in Anchorage, AK. He also served several special assignments in the BLM’s Washington Office. 

Denton received his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska and his master’s degree in hydrology from the University of Nevada. He started his career with the U.S. Forest Service as a Student Career Experience Program student in Region 6 on the Siuslaw National Forest, Oregon. He served in the military prior to his Federal service.
