NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act)

Each National Forest and Grassland is governed by a management plan in accordance with the National Forest Management Act (NFMA). Forest Service line officers implement or revise these plans by issuing thousands of resource management decisions each year. These decisions are accompanied by National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation Environmental Impact Statements (EISs), Environmental Analysis (EAs) or Categorical Exclusions (CEs), and may be subject to administrative appeal. In compliance with the Electronic Freedom of Information Act Amendment of 1996 (EFOIA, a process has been established to post Forest Service Final Appeal Decisions on the world wide web, and are available at the Appeals homepage.
