FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Western, Wyo. – The Bridger-Teton National Forest is now accepting applications for the United States Youth Conservation Corps program, deadline to apply is Friday, April 1st, 2016.
The YCC summer program consists of an 8 week, 40 hours a week, commitment to work for the Forest Service out of one of our six administrative office locations. There are seven positions being advertised, two each for the Kemmerer and Big Piney Ranger Districts and one position available for each of the Jackson, Pinedale, and Greys River Districts. To be eligible, students must be between the ages of 15 and 18 and a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident of the United States. There is no previous experience required to apply but application must be fully completed to qualify for the selection process which is done at random. This is a non-residential program, meaning that participants live at home and will need to provide their own transportation on a daily basis to the assigned duty station. Employment usually begins the third week of June and ends the first week of August.
This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in natural resource agencies as well as those that want to acquire experience in the workforce. Students will be working in an outdoor and indoor setting, often spending the majority of the time outdoors assisting the Forest recreation staff with various recreational projects. Duties may include trail maintenance, campground and facilities rehabilitation, wildlife surveys, and providing Forest visitor information.
A copy of the application can be found at: www.fs.usda.gov/btnf. Applications must be received by April 1st, 2016, and can be either mailed to Attn: Angelica Cacho, Bridger-Teton National Forest, P.O. Box 1888, Jackson, WY 83001 or emailed, firstname.lastname@example.org.
