Albuquerque, NM, June 30, 2015—For Immediate Release. The Cibola National Forest announces the 30-day comment period for the draft Environmental Assessment for the Zuni Mountain Trail on the Mt. Taylor Ranger District.
Project Description: The Zuni Mountains are a premier year-round recreational destination with a system of connected non-motorized trails. They offer trail experiences for mountain bikers, hikers, and cross country ski and snow users on narrow single-track and double-track routes. In collaboration with the Zuni Mountain Trail Partnership the US Forest Service is working to develop and maintain a system of mountain bike trails. An environmental analysis has been prepared to expand the network of NFS trails managed for mountain bike use; meet sustainable trail design criteria; and, improve soil and watershed conditions by rehabilitating several miles of unauthorized routes.
