Contracting - Fire Procurements
The USDA Forest Service is part of an interagency organization that is responsible for overseeing fire management activities within the local area. The Northern Acquisition Management Center provides procurement support to the fire organization.
The interagency organization does not have all of the equipment and supplies necessary to support fire emergency activities, so will rent equipment and purchase a variety of supplies and services. The following are typical items purchased and equipment rented during an emergency:

The supplies and services will be purchased using different procurement methods such as; credit cards, blanket purchase agreements, and purchase orders. Supplies and Services will generally be procured from vendors within the local area of the emergency.
The type of agreement, to utilize Contractor Equipment, is called an Emergency Equipment Rental Agreement or EERA. The agreement will have the Contractor's information and description of their equipment (make, model, serial, and year). The rental rate, which is established by each Region, is also made part of the agreement. There is an equipment sign-up period from January 1 through March 31 every year. You may however complete the enclosed Emergency Equipment Rental Agreement (EERA) form and submit it to our office. It will be kept on file for input into an agreement during the next sign up period.
Contractors located within the Cibola National Forest or Santa Fe National Forest that are interested in signing up their equipment for fire emergencies are to contact the Cibola or Santa Fe Acquisition Managment Office. Once the agreement is executed, the agreement is valid throughout all of the Regions.
Once an EERA agreement is established, the Contractor may or may not accept an assignment. The agreement does not bind the Contractor to accept every assignment requested, however, once accepted the Contractor is bound by the EERA rates, terms, and conditions.
