Roads Report

Please use caution when driving on Forest roads during the wet spring months. Many Forest roads may have experienced storm and runoff damage that can make them impassible. Never attempt to cross a flooded road and use extreme caution when driving on roads near swollen streams.

Three Rivers Ranger District

1510100  First Thought-  Road is temporarily closed from the Forest Service Property Boundary.  The road has logging operations and log truck traffic on narrow roads with near blind curves that makes the road unsafe for non-logging traffic to travel on.  The temporary closure is to ensure the safety of the general public and log truck drivers.  For more information, please contact the Three Rivers Ranger District at (509) 738-7700

6100010, Snow Cap Road is closed from mile post 1.0 to milepost 4.7 for public safety . A section of the roadbed has failed and washed out making the road impassible to motor vehicles. 9500710  West of Davis Lake–Road has a culvert washout and is impassible to all motorized vehicles between the junction of 9500705 to the junction of 950071 at approximately MP 1.0.  For more information, please contact the Three Rivers Ranger District at (509) 738-7700

Republic Ranger District

2160000 Aeneas Creek. A large road failure has left the road impassable to motorized vehicles beyond mile post 6.5. Profanity Trailhead is approximately 1000 feet beyond the closure, and is accessible to foot traffic. 2054000 Thirteen Mile Road – Culverts are being replaced at the following locations at MP 3.36 of 2054000 and MP 1.52 of the 2050600 (East Fork Hall Creek Road.) The crew will be working for about four weeks.

6120900 N. Fork Lone Ranch. A fill slope failure has resulted in a unsafe road width and steep side slopes that are hazardous for motorized vehicles, closed from mile section 3.6 to 5. For more information on this temporary closure, please contact the Republic Ranger District at (509) 775-7400

Newport Ranger District

1920000, CCA Creek. A large road failure has left the road impassable to motorized vehicles from mile post 10.0 to mile post 12.1. For more information on this temporary closure, please contact the Newport Ranger District at (509) 447-7300.

1921000, Browns Creek Road. A large road failure has left the road impassable to motorized vehicles from mile post 1.63 to milepost 2.56. For more information please contact the Newport Ranger Station at (509) 447-7300.

138 South Skookum Trail, Due to the deterioration conditions of one of the bridges; a short segment of the trail is closed.  Hikers will be able to use an alternate route to by-pass the failing bridge by using the South Skookum Spur Trail 138.1 (Dragonfly)

9517000 Tower- Road failures, impassible to all motorized vehicles at approximate MP 7.8 and MP 13.29.  The proposed special order will restrict motorized use from the junction of 9717469 (approximate 7.1 mile mark) to 9517463 (approximate 14.2 mile mark).  For more information please contact the Newport Ranger Station at (509) 447-7300.

Sullivan Lake Ranger District

East Sullivan Campground, Sullivan Lake Group campground, boat launch area, and the day use area next to the dam- Trucks and heavy equipment will be delivering pipes and construction workers will be assembling the pipes together.  A large supply of materials and labor crew placed in such a small space creates visibility issues with foot and vehicle traffic.  or more information on this temporary closure, please contact the Sullivan Lake Ranger District at (509) 446-7500.

Old Mill Site located on 2122000 Highline –The Old Mill Site about ¼ mile up road 2212000 Trucks and heavy equipment will deliver pipes, supplies and project materials.  A large supply of materials placed in such a small place creates visibility issues with foot traffic.  The removal of the pipe sections to the assembly area will take place throughout the fall.3155000, Slate Creek. 1934000 East Branch of LeClerc Creek - Closed from MP 0.06 the junction of 1934070 to MP 1.2 the junction of Rd. 1934154 for safety.  Two culvers are being replaced for fish passage.  The equipment and the excavation of the roadbed make it unsafe for vehicle travel. 3155000 Slate Creek - Large road failure, impassible to all motorized vehicles beyond MP 6.5.

4685 Rocky Creek Road. This is a county road maintained by Pend Oreille County. The road has been closed to motorized traffic due to an unsafe bridge structure. While the road is closed 2.5 miles northwest of HWY 20 on the Pend Oreille County side, the public land is still accessible. This closure essentially closes the road to through traffic. 507 North Fork Trail- Due to the trail bridge failure that crosses a large riparian area next to the Upper North Fork of Sullivan Creek.
