Training exercises taking place, camping and picnicking opportunities available nearby

 

TUCSON, AZ, February 19, 2020 – The Gordon Hirabayashi Recreation Site on Mt. Lemmon will be fully booked from 8:00 a.m. February 20 to 8:00 a.m. February 21 for a training session.

 

The U.S. Border Patrol Search Trauma and Rescue Team (BORSTAR) will conduct overnight search and rescue field training exercises in the campground and surrounding area, located on the Santa Catalina Ranger District, Coronado National Forest. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and Arizona Department of Public Safety may also participate, and a helicopter may be used during operations.

 

Visitors are advised to remain clear of the closed area during this time. Nearby opportunities for camping and picnicking can be found at Molino Basin Campground, Milepost 5.7 on the Mt. Lemmon Highway.
