Eldorado National Forest to Hire 35 Seasonal Fire Positions - Online Applications Accepted January 27 to February 2

The Eldorado National Forest plans to fill approximately 35 seasonal wildland firefighter positions for a temporary appointment that will run approximately May through November 2015. The online application for these jobs will only be open for one week from Tuesday, January 27, 2015 through Monday, February 2, 2015. Fire staff from the forest are available to answer questions about the application process which involves submitting an online application and a resume through the national USAjobs website.

The various positions opening this year are located in Georgetown, Grizzly Flats, Kyburz, Pioneer, Pollock Pines, and Camino, CA. The positions include working as a dispatcher or a fire lookout, or being a member of an engine, helicopter, hotshot or hand crew. Firefighters in these positions may travel to assignments away from their regular duty station for up to 30 days. All of the positions except for dispatcher and fire lookout will be required to pass a fitness test which involves walking 3 miles in 45 minutes while carrying 45 pounds of weight.
