Waiver of Entrance Fee to El Portal Rain Forest Center for Monday January 21

Rio Grande, PR …The U.S Forest Service will waive entrance fees on Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, Monday, January 21. Visitors will be admitted free-of-charge to the El Portal Rain Forest Center in the El Yunque National Forest that day.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday is established as a National Day of Service encouraging all to commemorate this holiday by volunteering and serving in your local communities.
“The holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is a tribute to his life and achievements as an influential civil rights leader” said Forest Supervisor Pablo Cruz. “We extend an invitation to visit the Forest to reflect on Dr. King’s accomplishments and encourage all to take action and to support service efforts in your communities.”
El Portal has three interpretive pavilions, a theater and a bookstore which provides information about El Yunque and rain forests of the world. The El Portal Rain Forest Center is located on PR 191 Km.4.0 in Rio Grande. The Center is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
