Kalispell, MT. July 11, 2017 – Log hauling and heavy equipment transport is currently occurring on the East Side Reservoir Road (Rd. 38), generally 15 log truck loads per day. This will be increasing as we approach August and should persist until the snow flies. Up to 50 log truck loads per day are anticipated during peak haul periods.

The West Side Reservoir Road (Rd. 895) may also have log truck traffic but not to the degree of the East Side. Log truck traffic will occur between 4 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday – Friday (excluding holidays). Heavy equipment transport traffic may occur throughout the week during daylight hours.

The hauling activity will be from three timber sales on the Spotted Bear RD (Tin Mule, Silver Mule and Trail Creek Salvage) and one timber sale on the Hungry Horse RD (Firefighter at mile post 15, East Side Reservoir Road)..

The East Side Road identifies CB channel 15. The West Side road identifies CB channel 22. Radio communication is seldom 100% perfect, so please drive defensively. If you have a CB radio, please don't be bashful about asking over the radio for the log truck driver's location.

The recommended method to increase travel safety is to keep your speed slow and prudent, anticipate a log truck at any corner, and stay in your lane, especially when your lane is the outside lane of a sharp curve.
