Storage facility for native seeds!

The Grand Opening of Colorado Parks and Wildlife's Seed Warehouse in Delta, Colorado is December 20 from noon - 3:00 pm. Join us for the celebration! CPW Director, Rick Cables, will speak at 1:00 pm. The warehouse is located at 5297 Sawmill Mesa Road in Delta. The warehouse is after the curve in Sawmill Mesa Road. Partner agencies include the Uncompahgre Partnership (Native Plant Program), the U.S. Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management.

These sacks of seed are stored in the Delta Warehouse and will be used to re-seed Bureau of Land Management areas burned by the wildfires near Grand Junction in 2012.  Various agencies on the Western Slope of Colorado will be able to use the facility to store seed.. Harvested seeds will be stored in 25-50 pound sacks on pallets to be used for restoring burned areas or enhancing habitat for various wildlife species such as the Gunnison Sage-grouse.

Local volunteers are collecting native grass seed which will be packaged and stored in the warehouse and eventually sent to increase fields.

Showy fleabane in commercial production will be harvested for the Uncompahgre Partnership's- Native Seed Program.
