Montrose, Colo., March 15, 2016 – Fire officials from the Grand Mesa Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forest are planning to burn approximately 100 small slash pile on 25 Mesa Road later this week or early next week if conditions are right. Fire crews have been reducing forest fuels through thinning last fall creating small piles of wood debris scattered throughout the plantation. Smoke impacts are expected to be minimal, however, anyone in that immediate area with health conditions that may be affected by short durations of smoke should contact Cody Russel at (970) 596-4672.
