USDA Forest Service selects Gregg Slezak as Deputy Ranger for North River and Lee Districts

Portrait photo of man in front of treeHarrisonburg, VA, January 23, 2023 – Gregg Slezak has been selected Deputy District Ranger for the George Washington & Jefferson National Forest’s North River and Lee Ranger Districts.

Gregg is a Certified Forester. He served as a Zone Silviculturist for the Chattooga River-Blue Ridge Ranger District on the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest in Georgia.  Slezak also served as Acting Deputy Ranger for the Cumberland District on the Daniel Boone National Forest in Kentucky. Gregg worked in private and state forestry, for Lyme Adirondack Timber and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, respectively.

Gregg received a degree in Ecological Forest Management and Geographic Information Systems from Paul Smith’s College in New York.

“Gregg’s breadth of experience will be a solid asset in our forest management,” said Forest Supervisor Joby Timm. “I know he will contribute positively to the USDA’ Forest Service’s mission of caring for the land and serving people.”

“I’m excited to start this new role and be part of the great team on the North River and Lee Ranger Districts, moving our important projects forward,” said Slezak.
