Watercraft that use National Forest sites along the Pine and Pere Marquette Rivers are required to display a Forest Service permit from mid-May through mid-September. Watercraft permits cost $2.00 per watercraft per day. The Forest Service is now accepting reservations for summer 2011. The Huron-Manistee National Forests encourage users toconsider the following when planning a trip on either of these rivers:
- Reservation fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable.
- Fees must be received within 14 days of making reservations.
- A maximum of eight (8) watercraft permits are allowed with each reservation.
- A maximum of four (4) reserved trip dates, including one holiday weekend, will be allowed.
Although permits may be obtained at no cost on the same day you plan to take a river trip, permit availability may be limited without a reservation, particularly for weekends, holidays and certain stretches of the Pere Marquette River.
