Watercraft Permits Now Online!
Cadillac, MI – Watercraft permits for the Pine and Pere Marquette Wild and Scenic Rivers are now available online!
This year reservations for watercraft permits will only be taken online at www.recreation.gov or by phone at 1-877-444-6777; however, the offices of the Huron-Manistee will still be available to provide assistance in obtaining a permit. The Forests encourage visitors to visit www.Recreation.gov to set up a profile and become familiar with its features and how it works.
Previously, the cost to reserve a permit on the Pine is $2 per watercraft and on the Pere Marquette it is $2 per watercraft per river segment. Under National Recreation Reservation System (NRRS), the permit per watercraft will remain $2; however, a $6 fee will be charged for each reservation, regardless of the number of permits reserved. An individual may reserve up to 4 trips; and 8 watercraft permits per day. For example, if you wish to reserve four watercraft permits for one day, the cost would be 4 x $2 = $8, plus the $6 reservation fee, for a total of $14.
A watercraft permit has been required since the late 1970’s, early 1980’s, on the Pine and Pere Marquette Rivers from mid-May through mid-September. Watercraft permits limit use to ensure protection of the rivers’ outstandingly remarkable values while providing high quality recreation experiences.
