Adventures With Nature
June 28, 2014 - Join us for Adventures With Nature Day at Tipsaw Lake
the theme for 2014 is Soaring with Nature
Adventures With Nature Day is held on the fourth Saturday in June from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Several organizations and agencies work together to make the day fun and educational. There are door prizes given out and many of the booths allow the children to make things to take home.
Children will learn about birds, bees, butterflies and bats. Activities and crafts will focus on pollination and supporting the pollinators, learning about and taking care of birds and their habitats, ‘visiting’ a bat cave, and tasting outdoor cooking from nature.
Exhibitors will be on hand sharing their knowledge about how bees and butterflies pollinate our area, plants needing pollination. Children will be able to make suet feeders and suet as well as several other crafts.
Perry Central Band Boosters were on hand serving food for hungry visitors. And of course, the event was made special by a visit from Smokey Bear!
Adventures With Nature is sponsored by Perry & Spencer County SWCDs, Purdue Extension – Perry County, and the US Forest Service
We recommend that people bring lawn chairs and no pets are allowed at the event for public safety.
There is a $3.00 Gate Fee charged per car to enter Tipsaw Lake where the event is held.
