June 25, 2016 - Join us for Adventures With Nature Day at Tipsaw Lake

the theme for 2016 is Wilderness Survival 


Girl with oxen at AWNAdventures With Nature Day is held on the fourth Saturday in June from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. CST. Several organizations and agencies work together to make the day fun and educational. Many of the booths allow the children to make things to take home.

This year the children will:

  • Make Rope 
  • Learn simple first aid
  • Learn what to pack in your backpack
  • Foods to cook over a fire
  • Compass & GPS reading
  • Scavenger Hunt
  • Things you need to watch out for in the forest – snakes, insects
  • Wild Animal Safety
  • Learn how to make a shelter of things you find in the forest

Perry Central Music Boosters will be providing food for purchase.

Adventures With Nature is sponsored by Perry & Spencer County SWCDs, Purdue Extension – Perry County, and the US Forest Service.

Girl with birdhouseWe recommend that people bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on the ground. No pets are allowed at the event for public safety.

There is a $3.00 Gate Fee charged per car to enter Tipsaw Lake where the event is held.
