The Galena Creek Visitor Center presents Birding for the Intrepid Intermediate

Reno, Nevada  Expand your birding skills, or get a grasp of the basics! Learn how to spot birds through binoculars, look for common identifying characteristics, and learn about some of the more common species on this early morning hike with Lahontan Audubon Society birder Alan Gubanich, who will be available to answer questions on bird physiology and behavior as well as how to best observe birds in their natural habitat. This event is part of a series which will continue in June with "Birding with the Ambitiously Advanced".  

After the hike, be sure to come back by the Visitor Center to take in our new exhibits, or do a bit of shopping at our gift store, where you will find outdoor recreation guides, natural history and field guides, regional history books, kids items, apparel and more.

The Galena Creek Visitor Center is managed by Washoe County Regional Parks & Open Space under a special use permit from the U.S. Forest Service. Great Basin Institute operates the Visitor Center, provides volunteers and staff, and offers educational programming for visitors of all ages.
