Recreation Residence (Summer Homes) Program

Recreation Residence Information

Photo of a summer home on Priest LakeSummer homes, also referred to as recreation residences, have a long tradition on the Idaho Panhandle National Forests. Some of these homes date back to the early 1900's. Currently there are 138 recreation residences on the IPNF, most of which are located on our Priest Lake District. This page provides links pertinent to the recreation residence program on the IPNF.

Following is a Kaniksu National Forest Brochure (circa 1910) advertising how to obtain a recreation residence permit.
