Travelers to the St. Joe River country are being advised that a portion of the popular St. Regis Road (Forest Highway 50) will be closed until noon on September 19, 2011 while a Federal Highways project replaces several culverts in the Bear Springs and Float Creek area. Those travelers who wish to cross over Gold Pass between St. Regis, Montana and the upper St. Joe River will need to use an alternate route. Regular passenger vehicles traveling between St. Regis and the upper St. Joe River will need to travel to Wallace, Idaho and take the Moon Pass Road south to Forest Highway 50 at Avery, Idaho. An alternate route intended for high clearance vehicles only is available using Forest Road 339 over Float Saddle to Forest Highway 50.
Forest visitors who wish to access this portion of the St. Joe Ranger District are encouraged to contact the district office at (208) 245-2531 for the latest road and trail conditions.
