Eagle Lake Ranger District:

The Swain trail system to Bogard, along with the Mud Creek Rim, and the Fredonyer Long loop are projected to be groomed Feb. 25. This will probably be the end of grooming until we get more snow.

Hat Creek Ranger District:

Ashpan is 100% open with 50 miles groomed; the Latour system is 85% open with 40 miles groomed, including trails A-1 thru A-7 and L-1, L-2, and L-3. Due to the warm weather, some areas of Latour have severe washouts across major trail segments; most have been transitioned and marked, but new hazards occur daily so ride cautiously. Future grooming will take place on a weather-dependent basis until the next storm series arrives. As always ride "right" and watch for the groomer and other riders.

Almanor Ranger District:
*Grooming was scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 20 on all trail systems except Tamarack, but we have not yet received official confirmation.

As always, watch for hazards and other riders, and please ride to the right!

Make safety your number one priority. Travel with a friend. Make sure you tell someone where you are going. Carry emergency equipment. Use your best judgment. Have fun!

Lassen National Forest snowmobile routes are closed to all wheeled motorized vehicles, including All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) until March 31, 2013.  Wheeled vehicles create ruts on groomed trails, which result in hazardous conditions for snowmobile traffic. Violation of closures is not only dangerous, but can be costly as well.  Our concern is for public safety and protection of resources.  Thanks for helping!

View Forest Orders

Lassen National Forest has many types of outdoor recreation. Call the District offices for more information on where you can operate your wheeled vehicle. Visitors are reminded that snowmobile traffic is not permitted in the Caribou Wilderness, Thousand Lakes Wilderness, or in Lassen Volcanic National Park.
