Almanor Campgrounds Closed for Season

Chester, Calif., October 4, 2016 – All campgrounds on the Almanor Ranger District are closed for the season as of October 5th. The campgrounds are expected to reopen by the end of April 2017 for the start of fishing season.

However, the district offers many non-fee recreation destinations that are open year-round, including the Lake Almanor Recreation Trail and Canyon Dam Boat Launch. Lassen National Forest lies at the Crossroads of California, where the granite of the Sierra Nevada, the lava of the Cascades and the Modoc Plateau, and the sagebrush of the Great Basin meet. The Forest is managed for recreational access as well as timber and firewood for homes, forage for livestock, water, minerals, and other natural resources.
