Advisory: Almanor RD Plans to Implement Prescribed Fire Project in Cold Spring Hill Area

CHESTER, Calif. - The Almanor Ranger District is planning to implement a prescribed fire project in the Cold Spring Hill area. The unit is located 12 miles west of Jonesville, 11 miles north of Forest Ranch, 12 miles northeast of Cohasset, 8 miles northeast of Campbellville, 5 miles west of Butte Meadows, and 10 miles northwest of Inskip. Smoke should not impact any major highways, but could be visible from Highway 32. The unit is located on the H-line or the 26N15, near the Murphy Trailhead. The purpose of this burn is to provide continued forest fuels reduction, which continues the fuel break that private entities have maintained.

- Watch for: Firefighters and firefighting equipment along roads (H-line, 130G, 260G, and Hwy32). Please obey signs posted along roadways.
Objectives of this burn include:
- Maintenance of previous fuel reduction treatment area.
- Returning fire to its historical role in the area.
- Enhancement of forage and habitat for wildlife.
