Summary: “Rains the past several days have helped to cool the edges of the fire” according to Al Mason, Operations Section Chief. Crews are making progress on contingency line construction with roads 500 and 507 the highest priority for completion. The 500 Road is closed 2 miles west of Albany. Rob Roy Reservoir remains closed this weekend.
The US Forest Service in conjunction with Fire Management Officials have made adjustments to the present Keystone Fire Closure Order to allow residents of the Rambler community to return to their homes today. Residents can enter from the north via the French Creek Road, Forest Service Road 555, or Forest Service Road 338 and should be respectful of the Keystone Fire Closure Order that is still in effect. Be aware that the Incident Command Post for the Fire is active and located at Cinnabar Park along road 338. There is no power to the area until power lines are re-energized after firefighting operations are completed. Homeowners who have generators connected to the grid are urged to refrain from use as a safety precaution. Residents should stay alert in case the fire activity increases or in the event of a new fire start.
Fire managers will continue to evaluate further closure order modifications as progress is made on fire containment and contingency line completion. The communities of Moores Gulch, Keystone, lower Keystone, and scattered residences within the US Forest Service (USFS) closure area remain inaccessible. The USFS closure order and map can be found at the link listed above. Any modification of the closure order will be based on public and firefighter safety.
