Connor Proctor, age 16, and his little brother Keegan Proctor, age 13, embark on Lake 22 Tail off of Mt. Loop Highway. Teens between the ages of 10 and 14 are at the highest risk for injury and death while recreating outdoors.

THE FACTS ARE THAT 213,000 people (CDC 2004-2005) are treated in emergency departments every year for outdoor recreational injuries. Of those, 51.5 percent were young people between the ages of 10-14 (CDC, 2008). Injuries include: broken bones, head injuries, exposure, dehydration, drowning.

As a teen you are at a higher risk of injury and even death.
