June 27 Lightning Fire Update

The first of several predicted dry lightning cells passed over the Forest last night with relatively little impact.
Seven strikes were recorded on or near the Forest. Nothing has been reported as of yet, though fires may present themselves as the day progresses. More storms are forecasted throughout the week, with the Red Flag Warning for fire weather continuing through Sunday.
Forest Service fire managers have staged additional personnel and equipment in preparation, as well as extending staffing hours.
A Task Force has been established in both the East and West zones of the Forest. This includes five engines on the West Zone and two engines, water tender, Type 2 Initial Attack hand crew and bull dozer on the East Zone.
Also available in case of fire and to support surrounding units are a suppression helicopter and reconnaissance airplane.
