Frog Fire Update

Release Date: Aug 1, 2015

Erratic winds are challenging fire-containment efforts and moving the fire in all directions. The Frog Fire was last estimated at 1,850 acres. Managers are estimating five-percent containment at this time.

Active fire was observed in all areas. Spread was primarily to the west and south, but there were also two active runs to the north yesterday.

Current objectives include keeping the fire south of the Long Bell Guard Station, protecting private timber lands and the WAPA power-transition lines.

Northern California Incident Management Team 1 has taken command of this incident this morning. All future updates will be available at http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/4427/

Additional lightning storms are predicted for this evening and continuing into Sunday. Gusty and erratic winds are expected. A Red Flag Warning will be in effect from 2 p.m. today until 11 p.m. Sunday http://1.usa.gov/1fSSFOG.
