Living History Day coming to Lochsa Ranger Station

The public is invited to participate in a Living History Day at the Lochsa Historical Ranger Station Visitor Center on July 23, 2016. The station is located along U.S. Highway 12 (mile marker 121), 30 miles east of Lowell, Idaho and 70 miles west of Missoula, Montana.
The opening ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a presentation of flags, Star Spangled Banner and welcome and introduction of special guests and speakers.
From 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., guests may rotate through stations of speakers and live demonstrations. Topics will include traditional tool use, mule packing, fire lookout operations, the daily life of a Forest Service Ranger, and running fur trap lines.
Live music, refreshments and children’s activities will be available throughout the day.
The event will be hosted by the Friends of the Lochsa Historical Ranger Station, Selway- Bitterroot Frank Church Foundation, and Lochsa Ranger District.
