Elmer Creek Trail #96 currently open to foot traffic only

Release Date: Aug 17, 2016

Elmer Creek Trail #96 located on the North Fork Ranger District is currently open to foot traffic only.

Forest Service Crews and contractors have begun to open this trail that has a 30 year deferred maintenance backlog. There is a significant amount of tread re-alignment required to make the trail safe and two puncheon bridges that will need to be replaced prior to the trail opening for stock use. Additionally there is a 200’ section of trail that will require drilling and blasting to address a significant rock slide over the trail.  The rock slide has made the trail impassable to stock use.

It is expected that the work required to complete the necessary re-trail clearing will not be finished until 2017.

If you have any questions about this project, please contact the North Fork Ranger District at (208) 476-4541.
