Post-fire Work in the Tepee Springs and Woodrat Fires Includes Some Road Closures

The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests will complete post-fire culvert work in the Tepee Springs and Woodrat fire areas. Culverts were identified as part of the 2015 Burned Area Emergency Response and are being replaced with larger culverts to lessen the effects from run off due to wildfire.
In the Tepee Springs fire area, portions of Forest Service roads 221 and 263 will be closed beginning September 8, 2016.
FS road 221: Is closed from the junction of FS road 9905, Van Ridge Road, to the junction FS road 536, Keating Ridge Road.
FS road 263: Is closed from junction of Fs road 221 to the junction of FS road 2007.
Additional closures are anticipated and include FS road 211, between MP 54.7 and MP 55.0, beginning September 21, 2016 and FS road 221 at MP 65.2 (Ranch Creek) beginning September 26, 2016. All roads closed for culvert work in the Tepee Springs fire area will be open beginning October 5, 2016.
In the Woodrat fire area, portions of Forest Service roads 101 and 5503 will be closed beginning September 12, 2016.
Work on FS road 101 at MP 0.5 will begin on September 12. While work is being completed on FS road 101, visitors will be able to use FS road 5503 as an alternative route. Following the completion of culvert replacement and opening of FS road 101, work will begin on FS road 5503 on September 19, 2016 and FS road 5503 will be closed for the remainder of the month.
Road closures will provide for public health and safety during culvert removal and replacement.
Visitors should expect and use caution after roads reopen following culvert replacement as contractors will be finishing road work. Visitors may encounter heavy truck traffic and construction equipment until October 5, 2016 in the Woodrat fire area and until October 15, 2016 in the Tepee Springs fire area.
