Expect Travel Delays on Sears Creek Road during Timber Sale Operations

Release Date: Apr 9, 2018

Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests visitors should be prepared for brief travel delays on Forest Service road 1106, aka Sears Creek Road, due to helicopter yarding at the Blackwall timber sale this month.

Beginning approximately April 12, helicopters will be flying logs from the Blackwall timber sale, located on the Salmon River Ranger District in the upper Green Creek drainage just south of Kidder Place, to a landing adjacent to Forest Service road (FSR) 1106 near milepost 1.5. This will necessitate traffic delays of approximately 30 minutes for public safety as logs are flown over the road. These delays will occur from milepost 1 to milepost 2.5, and flaggers will be on–site when traffic control is required.

Logs will be hauled from the landing on FSR 1106 to FSR 244, aka Lightning Creek Road, and then to Grangeville. Trucks will be using CB channel 4.

This work is scheduled to take place seven days a week and be completed by May 1.

Thank you for traveling safely on the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests!
