Many activities, facilities, services and activities on federal land can be enjoyed for free. However, some do require fees or permits to help maintain, manage and improve the amenities that you enjoy.
For those that recreate on multiple federal lands that require a fee, the America the Beautiful Interagency Pass Program may be the most convenient way to pay. The Interagency Annual Pass is honored nationwide at all Forest Service, National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, and US Fish & Wildlife Service sites charging entrance or standard amenity fees.*
The Interagency Annual Pass is $80 and available for anyone 16 years or older. Children under 16 are always admitted free. Each Annual Pass can have up to two "owners".
The Interagency Senior Pass is a $10.00 lifetime pass for U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are 62 years or older.
The Interagency Access Pass is a free, lifetime pass for U.S. citizens or permanent residents of any age that have been medically determined to have a permanent disability that severely limits one or more major life activities.
*Passes do not cover expanded amenity fees such as cabin or yurt rentals and may not be accepted at sites operated by concessionaires. Recreation Fees vary widely across the thousands of Federal Recreation sites. Please contact specific sites directly for information on what is or is not covered by the passes.
