The Rocky Mountain Region (Region 2) has completed an update of the sensitive species list. These animal and plant species receive special emphasis in planning and management activities on National Forest System lands to assure their conservation. The sensitive species list is summarized down this page. You can also download a copy of the FSM 2670 R2 Supplement (June 10, 2011) containing this list. Note that the whitebark pine (Pinus albicaulis) is also on the Region 2 sensitive species list and included on this page but not in the downloadable file. Sensitive status was automatically conferred when the species was recently designated a Candidate for listing under the Endangered Species Act by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Future updates and manual supplements for Region 2 will reflect this addition.
