Forest Service Saw Program Partners, Cooperators, and Volunteers
The Forest Service utilizes volunteer groups to accomplish many Trail Maintenance tasks. On a 'by need basis' the Forest Service trains official volunteers in the use of chainsaws and cross-cut saws. Most of the saw work by volunteers in restricted to limbing, bucking logs, and brush clearing.
All volunteers who use chainsaws and crosscut saws are required to take an official Forest Service course in the safe operation of the saws, as well as maintain currency in First Aid and CPR.
