Western Nurseries Program

17 western states for which Diane Haase provides technical support regarding tree nurseries.

The Western Nursery Specialist (Diane Haase, 503-808-2349, diane.haase@usda.gov) is part of the State and Private Forestry staff in Region 6, although her responsibilities extend to seven Forest Service regions. Diane provides technical support to forest and conservation nurseries in the 17 western states and the American-affiliated Pacific Islands as a part of the national Reforestation, Nurseries, and Genetics Resources (RNGR) team.

RNGR offers expert support to state, federal, tribal, industrial, and private nurseries throughout the country by providing key information to aid in the production of adequate supplies of reasonably priced, high quality, genetically adapted seedlings for reforestation, conservation, and restoration. These services include technical assistance to nurseries, research projects to address seedling and field issues, periodicals, handbooks, scientific articles, and annual conferences and workshops. The National Seed Laboratory and a Tribal Nursery Emphasis are also integral components of RNGR’s mission. For further information about the RNGR program, visit https://www.rngr.net
