Becoming a Federal Contractor

Workshop Offered for Owners of Small Businesses to Learn Basics of Making the Government a Customer

MEDFORD, OR  –Gaining a competitive edge and enhancing capabilities are the focus of a free, two-hour training session about working with the federal government. The session will be hosted at the Medford Interagency Office located at 3040 Biddle Road in Medford on Wednesday, May 10, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. If you plan to participate in this event, it is important to register online by going to the GCAP’s website at www.gcap.org Click on the “training” tab and select the link under “Meet the Buyers-Medford”.

The session will provide insight on local Forest Service (FS) and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) buyers, including who they are, how they purchase, what they purchase, and what they plan to purchase in this fiscal year. Information will be provided about several special programs geared for businesses that are minority-owned, veteran owned, or woman-owned as well as where to find the solicitations posted by the federal agencies.

Contracting officers from the FS and the BLM, and program managers with the Government Contract Assistance Program, will be present. GCAP will provide information about Oregon’s Procurement Technical Assistance Center along with basics of federal contracting, registrations and certifications.
