SW Oregon— Moderate weather Friday night helped firefighters in suppression efforts on several RRSNF fires.
In the Wild Rivers Ranger District, the Hope Mountain Fire is approximately 30 acres in size and is staffed with air resources. The fire continues to burn in steep, inaccessible terrain south of the town of Takilma.
The Shan Creek Fire, located along Forest Road 2706, was reported at 100 acres yesterday evening. The fire has held along the road and has had growth along its east and west flanks. There are no threats to the community at this time.
The Caves Fire, located within the boundaries of Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve, west of the park’s visitor center, is 3 acres. The line around the fire is holding.
In the Siskiyou Mountains Ranger District, the Creedance Fire is approximately 35 acres, and is staffed with air resources. It is located southeast of Tallowbox.
The Slick Fire, located near Squaw Peak, is 2 acres and is staffed.
Fire personnel will continue to respond to any new reports of smoke throughout the day.
The public is encouraged to follow the Forest on both Twitter and Facebook for updates as they become available.
